Well like a lot of people may chime in with...These days you could find a new Colt LE6920 for 1200 - which arguably is the gold standard in ARs...very reliable, accurate, well made etc. (But there are plenty of other great AR brands as well). BUT a Colt Match Target, in good condition, with a CASE (usually is 1000 rounds) of ammo is a very good ...

My Colt Match H Bar A2 had a national match 1x9 twist barrel so using 55 grn and acquiring results like that at 100 yards (for me) was almost too easy. My 300M iron sight days were 24 years ago, I wouldn't have a chance in hell doing that now without optics, the eyes are getting old .

The Match Target HBAR (MT6601) had a chrome chamber but not a chrome bore. I don't think that Colt is presently producing the MT6551, but you should check KY Imports, Kiesler's, and CDNN Inv. to see if they have any NOS. I've seen some advertised pretty recently. I don't believe that Colt ever produced a 20" A3 (flattop) with a fully chromed ...

  6. Colt HBar Twist Rate - AR15.COM

IIRC, the Match Target Competition HBAR should be a 1/9 twist 5.56MM HBAR. The barrel should be marked on top, forward of the front sight base or gas-block if you've changed it. Many Colt commercial lowers were marked ".223," but the barrels are marked and the chamber cut for 5.56MM NATO.

  7. What are the correct upper reciever and barrel markings for a...

The rifle was originally a Colt Match Targer HBAR, MT6601; It has serial number of CMH026842, and is undrilled for the front detent. Now, as far as I have been able to gather, the correct markings for the A2 reciever would be CM, and the markings on the barrel should be C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 HBAR.

Colt Match Target Match HBAR 223 PMH 002*** I'm trying to figure out if it's pre or post ban? All of those serial number lists say that a Match Target is suppossed to begin with a MT serial number. I have not seen any Colt serail number lists whichg show three letters to start a series except the post ban CST, CMH & CCH series from 1997 and later.

  9. What is the story behind the Colt Target Match lower? - AR15.COM

    www.ar15.com/forums/ar-15/What_is_the_story_behind_the_Colt_Target_Match_lower...

The Match Target lowers are nothing special other than being Colt quality. Many states banned the Colt AR15 and Sporter, so Colt renamed the same gun the Match Target - Target Model w/gov't barrel, Match HBAR w/HBAR, and Competition HBAR w/ HBAR and a flattop upper. The earlier ones 1994-1996 or 1997 had various style sear blocks.

  10. Negative, only the LE AR's were marked as such. Crossovers, such as this one, the MT6400C (PostBan compliant M4 type) were not marked and had some of the standard AR/M-4/M16 features i.e. MPI bolts, standard GI pivot/takedown pins, standard trigger pins, parked under FSB,chrome lined bores, 1/9 twists re:barrel etc. What they did not have was AWB stuff I.E.

I bought a Colt Match Target HBAR (used) a while back and I'm having trouble spec'ing it out. It has a 20" barrel with no flash suppressor, no bayonet lug and a fixed carry handle. It is a spittin' image of the MT6601C from Colt's 2010 catalog...except, of course, for the flash suppressor. The serial number begins with CMH 037.
