The Laser Standard or ILCA 7 is a popular one-design class of single-handed sailing dinghy, originally built by Performance Sailcraft Canada. The laser is cat rigged , with a single mainsail and is a simple, light and fast boat to sail.
The ILCA 7 competition of the sailing events at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago was held from October 28 to November 4 at the Cofradia Nautica del Pacifico. Points were assigned based on the finishing position in each race (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.).

It has been sailed as the Olympic men's singlehanded dinghy since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.The Standard Laser uses a Portsmouth Yardstick of 1101 [clarification needed] for racing involving other classes.
