Mac OS Cyrillic is a character encoding used on Apple Macintosh computers to represent texts in the Cyrillic script. The original version lacked the letter Ґ , which is used in Ukrainian , although its use was limited during the Soviet era to regions outside Ukraine.

A Unicode font is a computer font that maps glyphs to code points defined in the Unicode Standard. [8] The vast majority of modern computer fonts use Unicode mappings, even those fonts which only include glyphs for a single writing system , or even only support the basic Latin alphabet .
It is the first Unicode encoded font to include non-Latin scripts (Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew). It was designed by Kris Holmes and Charles Bigelow in 1993, and was first shipped with the Microsoft Windows NT 3.1 operating system. The font comes pre-installed with all Microsoft Windows versions since Windows 98.
