Macabre (also known as Rumah Dara or Dara) is a 2009 Indonesian slasher film by The Mo Brothers. [1] The film tells the story of a group of friends headed to the airport who meet a woman claiming to have been robbed and needs a ride home, which begins a dark turn of events. The film is based on 2007 short film Dara. [1] [2]
A feature film adaptation of Dara was released in 2009 titled Macabre (also known as Rumah Dara) with both Tjahjanto and Stamboel directing as The Mo Brothers.The film stars Shareefa Daanish as the titular character as well as the rest of the short film's cast with character adjustment and features several new performers, including Julie Estelle, Sigi Wimala, Arifin Putra, and Imelda Therinne.
Cast members Sheila Dara Aisha, Rio Dewanto, Rachel Amanda and Donny Damara reprise their roles from the first film, alongside new cast: Jerome Kurnia, Lutesha, and Ganindra Bimo. The film follows the life of Aurora after moving to London to pursue her study. The film was theatrically released in Indonesia on 2 February 2023.
