Wakefield College is a Further Education and Higher Education College [2] in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England. It has provided education in the city since 1868. [ 3 ] On 1 March 2022, the college merged with Selby College to form the 'Heart of Yorkshire Education Group', with the college retaining its identity but with an updated logo.

The government considers colleges of the further education sector to be: "general FE (GFE) and tertiary colleges, sixth form (6F) colleges, specialist colleges (e.g. colleges of agriculture, or drama) and adult education institutes."

[ 114 ] [ 115 ] Other schools with sixth forms include: QEGS, Wakefield Girls High School, and Cathedral High School, which is now a Performing Arts College for ages 11 to 18.
In 2012, Crofton, together with Wakefield College, proposed the building of a sixth form centre. The staff was to be from Wakefield College and Crofton Academy. [6] The centre was ready for its first students in September 2013. However, as of 2018, the sixth form building was no longer used as a sixth form.

Wakefield College has two adult education courses at the school, one being in Beauty Therapy.Minsthorpe Community College also has a day care centre on the site named "Happy Days Children's Centre" and a Sports and Fitness Centre open to the whole community as well as its students, who are aged 15 or above.
