When the event was first brought to Pomona, the event was sponsored by Winston (after NHRA's main title sponsor at the time, RJ Reynolds' "Winston" cigarette brand). From 2010 to 2019, and again from 2021 to 2022, the event was sponsored by the Automobile Club of Southern California , which is affiliated with AAA.
The Famoso Bakersfield Raceway still hosts the March Meet but it is now strictly a "nostalgia drag racing" event. The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season was announced on July 10, 2024. [1] It will be the 70th season of the National Hot Rod Association's top drag racing competition. This season will also feature the 60th anniversary of the NHRA Finals. The NHRA will host 20 events this season. Top Fuel and Funny Car will compete at all 20 events.
"Drag City" is a 1963 song by Jan and Dean, written by Jan Berry, Roger Christian, and Brian Wilson.
