Overhead lines or overhead wires are used to transmit electrical energy to trams, trolleybuses or trains. Overhead line is designed on the principle of one or more overhead wires situated over rail tracks. Feeder stations at regular intervals along the overhead line supply power from the high-voltage grid.
Underground cables need a narrower surrounding strip of about 1–10 meters to install (up to 30 m for 400 kV cables during construction), whereas an overhead line requires a surrounding strip of about 20–200 meters wide to be kept permanently clear for safety, maintenance, and repair.

A circuit protection device for overhead power distribution lines which briefly interrupts a circuit when a fault is detected, then restores the circuit in the expectation the fault has cleared. autotransformer A transformer where the primary and secondary circuits share some of the transformer windings. availability factor
High-speed train overhead power lines: 25 kV at 50 Hz, but see the List of railway electrification systems and 25 kV at 60 Hz for exceptions. High-voltage electric power transmission lines: 110 kV and up (1.15 MV is the record; the highest active voltage is 1.10 MV [9]) Lightning: a maximum of around 150 MV. [10]
It can use Combo 1 or Combo 2 connectors to provide power at up to 500 kilowatts (kW) (max. 1000 V and 500 A). [1] These two connectors are extensions of the IEC 62196 Type 1 and Type 2 connectors, with two additional direct current (DC) contacts to allow high-power DC fast charging.
Rates on a 15-year mortgage stand at an average 6.35% for purchase and 6.35% for refinance, up 20 basis points from 6.15% for purchase and 19 basis points from 6.16% for refinance over the past week.
The moving-iron meter was invented by Austrian engineer Friedrich Drexler in 1884. [5] This type of meter responds to both direct and alternating currents (as opposed to the moving-coil ammeter, which works on direct current only). The iron element consists of a moving vane attached to a pointer, and a fixed vane, surrounded by a coil.
