The property was one of many owned by John Chapman, of Wrightstown. In addition to owning property in Wrightstown and Upper Makefield, he owned 300 acres in Durham Township, Bucks County and 200 acres in New Jersey, a partial interest in a saw mill in Wrightstown and a grist mill northwest of Doylestown.
