If only one date is entered, the template returns the number of full years and surplus days between the specified date and today's date. A hidden sort key is included so values produced by this template will work properly in sortable tables.
The default is to separate years and days with a comma. The separator is "and" if |sep=and is used. The default calculates an age—the day of the second date is not included in the calculation. Template:Years or months ago displays the number of years (or months if less than 1 year) between a specified year/month date and the current year/month. It will also work correctly when only the year is given. Optionally, a second year/month date can be specified to be used instead of the current year/month.
