Yeovil (/ ˈ j oʊ v ɪ l /) [2] is a town and civil parish in Somerset, England.The population of Yeovil at the last census (2021) was 49,698. It is close to Somerset's southern border with Dorset, 126 miles (203 km) west of London, 41.8 miles (67.3 km) south of Bristol, 6 miles (9.7 km) west of Sherborne and 27.6 miles (44.4 km) east of Taunton.

In the village centre there is a garage (which carries out MoT tests, sells fuel and incorporates a local shop), a butcher's shop, a post office, and Lanes Hotel/restaurant. About one mile to the east are the Yeovil Court hotel (currently being refurbished) and a petrol station and convenience store.

Somerset is a predominantly rural county, especially to the south and west, with an area of 4,171 km 2 (1,610 sq mi) and a population of 965,424. Yeovil Junction is the busier, but less central, of two railway stations serving the town of Yeovil in Somerset, England; the other is Yeovil Pen Mill.
