Oranjemund (German for "Mouth of Orange") is a diamond mining town of 4,000 inhabitants situated in the ǁKaras Region of the extreme southwest of Namibia, on the northern bank of the Orange River mouth at the border with South Africa.
Bethanie (often in German: Bethanien, and in English: Bethany, previously Klipfontein, Khoekhoegowab: ǀUiǂgandes [2]) is a village in the ǁKaras Region of southern Namibia. It is one of the oldest settlements in the country. [3] Bethanie had 2,372 inhabitants in 2023.
The name assigned to the region reflects the prominence of the Karas mountain range in its southern part. The ǁKharas region contains the municipality of Keetmanshoop, the towns Karasburg, Lüderitz and Oranjemund, and the self-governed villages Aroab, Berseba, Bethanie, Koës and Tses. ǁKharas' western border is the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
It spans the Atlantic Ocean-facing coast from Oranjemund on the border with South Africa, to around 72 kilometres (45 mi) north of Lüderitz, a distance of 320 km (200 mi) north. It extends to around 100 km (62 mi) inland, [2] and its total area of 26,000 km 2 (10,000 sq mi), [3] [4] makes up three percent of Namibia's land mass. [5]
The Bom Jesus was a Portuguese nau and Indiaman that set sail from Lisbon, Portugal, on Friday, March 7, 1533.Its fate was unknown until 2008, when its remains were discovered during diamond mining operations on the coast of Namibia, near Oranjemund.

Oranjemund is a constituency in the ǁKaras Region of Namibia. It covers an area of 4,623 km 2 (1,785 sq mi) and had a population of 9,837 in 2011, up from 7,789 in 2001. [ 1 ] The main towns are the district capital Oranjemund and the mining town of Rosh Pinah , the constituency also contains the Sendelingsdrift border post. [ 2 ]
