The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows was established in 1867 as Our Lady of the Seven Dolors Church and staffed by the Capuchin Friars. [1] It served as the national parish for the large number of German Catholics who immigrated to New York in the late nineteenth century. Later it became a parish for Italian and then Hispanic immigrants.
The Archdiocese of New York closed Saint Patrick's Old Cathedral School in June 2010, due to low enrollment. Parents of the final 129 students in Pre-K through eighth grade were given the opportunity to enroll them in the nearby Immaculate Conception School, St. Brigid School, or Our Lady of Sorrows School.
Our Lady of Guadalupe School (Bensonhurst) - It was nicknamed "OLG" in the neighborhood. In 2012 the school had 217 students, but by 2019 enrollment was 120. That year its fund balance was $559,633 and its deficit was $215,377. [ 15 ]

Our Lady of Mercy Academy, also referred to as OLMA, was a private Catholic College preparatory school for young women, founded in 1928 in Syosset, NY. [3] [4] [5] The academy was governed by a board of directors and it was operated by the Sisters of Mercy. [4] [6] Our Lady of Mercy Academy was Permanently Closed in August of 2024.
