An RCA self-service tube tester on display at the Oklahoma History Center. From the late 1920s until the early 1970s, many department stores, drug stores and grocery stores in the U.S. had self-service tube-vending displays. They typically consisted of a tube tester atop a locked cabinet of tubes, with a flip chart of instructions.
Creates constant-amplitude variable frequency sine waves to test frequency response Transistor tester: Tests transistors Tube tester: Tests vacuum tubes (triode, tetrode etc.) Wattmeter: Measures power in a circuit Vectorscope: Displays the phase of the colors in color TV Video signal generator: Generates video signal for testing purposes Voltmeter
An aside, as have been a repair tech, (not much with tubes) but from older tech I worked with, tube testers were a joke; that had the purpose to sell tubes. The good tubes would test as bad, and if you tested the new ones they would test bad. And full-fill pointless corporate diagnostic protocols (following steps even after its known to be bad).
Eagle Test Systems was founded by Len Foxman and began providing test solutions in 1976. Since October 1, 2003, they have delivered over 600 test systems to more than 60 customers worldwide. Prior to being acquired by Teradyne, global headquarters were located at its manufacturing facility in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. There, Eagle Test Systems ...
The company also designed and made other electronic instruments such as signal generators, valve (vacuum tube) testers and valve characteristic meters and specialist equipment for radio servicing. Many of these were intended for both military and commercial use and were made to a very high standard.

Variations in the electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability of the test object, and the presence of defects causes a change in eddy current and a corresponding change in phase and amplitude that can be detected by measuring the impedance changes in the coil, which is a telltale sign of the presence of defects. Modern PAT testers may include a test function for portable RCDs. The RCD functionality of a portable RCD, which provides RCD protection in the form of an adapter between an appliance and a socket, can be tested using the same techniques as for RCDs found in a building's fixed electrical installation. The testing functionality is included in ...
