The Belmond Andean Explorer, launched in May 2017, is South America's first luxury sleeper train. [1] It replaces the eponymous Pullman day train, between Cusco and Puno, at Lake Titicaca. By the new train this trip is converted to a one-night journey, and extended from Puno for another overnight ride to Arequipa. [2]
The luxury sleeper train, Belmond Andean Explorer is operated from Cusco for a one-night journey to Puno, and a two-night three-day journey to Arequipa. Its carriages were formerly used on the Great South Pacific Express in Australia between 1999 and 2003, and brought to Peru in February 2016.
Cars sold to Orient-Express Hotels in 2005. Orient-Express Hotels changed name to Belmond in 2014. Cars moved to Peru in 2016, and began use as Belmond Andean Explorer in 2017. Original Australian car numbers were retained, but Southern Peru-related car names were added.

The Belmond Andean Explorer services the Peruvian cities of Arequipa to Cusco in vice versa [11] and the Belmond Hiram Bingham, named after the explorer who rediscovered the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu, runs from the Sacred Valley to the landmark.
