Admiral Ernest King Admiral King was Chief of Naval Operations responsible for American operations both in the Atlantic and Pacific. In February 1942, he became one of the original members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff along with Admiral William D. Leahy , Army General George Marshall , and Army Air Force General Henry H. Arnold .
