Best Guitar Amps 2023. I run a little personal guitar blog and have just uploaded my Best Guitar Amps 2023 list with my Top 5 new amps. Would be cool if anyone here wants to check it out and also suggest any cool new guitar amps they feel that I could have included, or may have missed.

Sep 8, 2024. #1. It's high time TGP got a dedicated thread to the Swart line of amps. I love these amps, and there's been a lot of debate/discussion over speakers, circuit influence, and model volume over the years. I thought it would be useful to have a master thread where we can link some previous discussions and chat generally on these amps.
The VC50 has four EL84s and the VC20 has two. The gain from both are surprising and with both having a master volume as well, they are pretty good for home/practice amps although the VC50 can hang in a club setting and easily match your drummer. In fact, the harder and louder you push the VC50, the better it sounds.

Other than that and the expected tube and cap changes that need to be done on old amps, they all worked perfectly after 30+ years. From what I could tell from the outside, the build quality was fine. All of them had transistor preamps; most (except for one bass model) had tube power amps; some had tube phase inverters, others had solid-state.
Seminole224 said: Lazy J is another to consider that's not necessarily "new". The J20 is the standard 5e3, but you could also consider his J5 and J10 models. Mark Kane makes a pretty good 5e3 with some Dumble mods that corrects the bottom end. I've had the Lazy J20. It was completely overpriced in my humble opinion.

Cleans: 6.5/10. Overdriven: 7.5/10. JJ EL84: Widely recommended by many makers of EL84 amps, this tube has a good reputation for having a lot of everything a good EL84 should. Sounds: lots of chime, really nice treble, but still with clear mids and enough bass (slightly less than the TAD, but plenty).
