Harold Norbert Kalas (March 26, 1936 – April 13, 2009) was an American sportscaster, best known for his Ford C. Frick Award-winning role as lead play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB), a position he held from 1971 until his death in 2009.
Tastykake has also been a longtime sponsor of Philadelphia Phillies broadcasts. Hall of Fame announcer Harry Kalas (1936–2009) often announced that a box of Tastykakes had been delivered to the booth between innings. Author Janet Evanovich features Tastykakes in her mystery novels about Stephanie Plum, all of which are set in Trenton, New Jersey.
According to the Randy Miller book, "Harry the K: The Remarkable Life of Harry Kalas", Kalas has had experience recreating baseball games from his time with the Hawaii Islanders.
