Homicide: Life on the Street is an American police drama television series chronicling the work of a fictional version of the Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Unit. It ran for seven seasons and 122 episodes on NBC from January 31, 1993, to May 21, 1999, and was succeeded by Homicide: The Movie (2000), which served as the series finale.
Callie Thorne is an American actress known for her role as Dr. Dani Santino on the USA Network series Necessary Roughness.She is also known for past work such as her roles on Homicide: Life on the Street as Detective Laura Ballard, a role she held for two seasons, and the movie Homicide: The Movie, as well as for playing Sheila Keefe on Rescue Me and Elena McNulty in The Wire.

In 1996, Forbes joined the cast of NBC's popular police drama Homicide: Life on the Street, playing chief medical examiner Julianna Cox. She remained with the show for two years then was let go as part of a major cast overhaul (the series was canceled after one more season). However, she reprised her role in the 2000 TV special Homicide: The Movie.
Other cast members would go on to become household names and award winners including the late Andre Braugher, who won an Emmy for his role as Detective Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street.
Pellington filmed the images used in the credits with an 8 mm camera to give it a gritty look.
