Salt pepper and garlic should do fine. Place the meat on the log so it also gets good heat distribution and cook it until it is about well done. Cook it about 15 minutes and them turn it over to get the other side. Then take the log and the meat away from the fire and then you throw away the meat and eat the log.

I spent my Saturday checking out a few of the canyons above Alamogordo in unit 34. I didn't find any sheep yet, and learned a lot about getting into those areas. I have a 3 day this weekend so I plan ...

Feb 18, 2013. Messages. 1,241. My friend drew a Barbary tag for this year in 29 & 30 and we're planning on giving it a whirl. From looking at maps, I think we're going to try The Rim area that is SW of Carlsbad. We don't know where to go, but it looked good on maps.

1,598. NM aoudad hunts that are draw have odds that are not great and getting worse. Every instahunter who has drawn in the past 5 years has posted their success all over the internet and it is not helping odds. Texas has great options. $2500 for a 5 day hunt in TX is a great deal if there are in fact resident sheep on the property and it is ...

My buddy has hunted them in 32 and says they travel way to much to scout for the sheep it self mainly scout for promising terrain. With that it kinda seems your shooting in the dark. Still I’m insane enough to peruse the OTC hunt. If I can get within 500yds I can let the 7mm rip. Jan 16, 2020.

NM is a random draw with no point system, so you could get one any year. Odds for self-guided nonresidents are usually in the ballpark of 10% or less. That is for the handful of units that you have to draw. The peripheral areas with fewer sheep are otc.

Two of my kids (group ap) drew the F/IM Barbary tags for McGregor Range in January. The only additional requirement I see so far is hunter orange, but I'm sure there are probably some range-specific regs. and I'm not sure about scouting days yet. Question for you guys is, The Immature is defined as less than 18".

  10. NM Barbary sheep hunt

One tag I've been trying to draw for the past five years is a New Mexico Barbary sheep tag. When New Mexico released the results of their draw this past year I received an email that started with a rather unusual phrase - "Congratulations!" The area hunted was BLM ground near Roswell, NM.

    167. I had a sea of red on the NM draws this year. I opted for a 365 OTC tag for barbary sheep. I'm in Texas. The sheep are out there, but it's a tough hunt. No joke. Gotta do your research, scout some, and be ready for a climb. I've not seen them in the lower mountains very often, but they do come down.
