The Federal Ministry of the Interior is a Ministry of the Federal Government of Nigeria tasked with providing complementary internal security and other ancillary services within Nigeria. The Ministry is headed by the Minister of Interior, a cabinet-level head who reports directly to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .
Jurisdiction includes oversight of national security, homeland security, and foreign policy. It was restructured and expanded during the 112th Congress after a committee reorganization spearheaded by full committee chairman Darrell Issa. [1] During Democratic control from 2019 to 2023, it was known as the Subcommittee on National Security.
