    285. Feb 2, 2015. #8. Starlight Tools said: Shop Fox is one of Shiraz Balolia's brands. Shiraz is the owner of Grizzly. He has the Grizzly line-up, the South Bend line up and the Shop Fox line up. The Shop Fox line is marketed through his Wholesale distribution branch to dealers, where-as the Grizzly line up is sold through his stores.

So just to confirm what DAT510 said above, I looked in the Shop Fox manual and did see the detail he spoke of. The 120 tooth gear literally does nothing here other than act as a spacer and any old gear could be put there for inch threading.

  4. 24" Box And Pan Sheet Metal Brake...can't Decide Which "brand"

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/24-box-and-pan-sheet-metal-brake-cant-decide...

Grizzly G0557 | $379. - It's Grizzly, so well known brand. Definitely on the higher end of prices. Seems to be the only one with that piece of angle iron on the front, but it isn't in the parts list in the manual. Has more/narrower fingers than the other brakes (except Shop Fox). Shop Fox M1011 | $329.

  5. Shop Fox M1049 Tailstock | The Hobby-Machinist

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/shop-fox-m1049-tailstock.109653

    87. Dec 21, 2023. #1. The tailstock on my Shop Fox M1049 lathe is just about locked up. I'm fairly certain the problem is the ram (#451) is, for some reason, sticking in the tailstock body (#463). It takes a significant amount of force to turn the handwheel to get the ram to move outward. However, the handwheel (and I assume the lead screw ...

Mar 11, 2019. #1. In the market for a lathe and a mill. I've looked at the few combination options (lathe/mill combo units) available on our side of the pond. Considering I'm digging deeper prior to the purchase, I've ended up walking down the path of uncertainty at this point. Of course, I've looked at the Shop Fox and Grizzly units and ...

  7. Which Lathe After Considering Options...? - The Hobby-Machinist

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/which-lathe-after-considering-options.6451

1,380. May 12, 2012. #1. I'm looking at metal lathes in the 22+ range. Grizzly is about 3.75 hours away from me and have the 10x22 G0602 which has gotten good reviews. Then there's Penn Tool that's about 20mins away and they have a Shop Fox 10x26 M1099 lathe. Shop Fox is somehow related to Grizzly and probably made in the same factory, like ...

  8. Shop Fox M1016 lathe, change to 4 jaw chuck | The Hobby-Machinist

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/shop-fox-m1016-lathe-change-to-4-jaw-chuck.71393

I'd about given up on my quest for a 5" x 4 jaw self adjusting chuck which would fit the Shop Fox 1016 series, odd face plate/backing plate adjustable set up. I had gathered some specs from the "stock" 3 jaw set up. I found several that might work on E-Bay, they ranged in price from about $175.00 shipped to $70.00 shipped.

  9. Shop Fox M1015 Lathe | The Hobby-Machinist

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/shop-fox-m1015-lathe.64103

I am hoping to purchase a small metal lathe within the next few months. I have been looking at the M1015, but am finding few reviews about it, and those on Amazon, etc. It is the smallest that would work for what I want to. One thing I like about it is the slower feeds it has compared to other mini-lathes, 0.002" and 0.004" per rev.

  10. any reason not to buy a M1112 over a 4003G | The Hobby-Machinist

    www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/any-reason-not-to-buy-a-m1112-over-a-4003g.29159

The thread about the M1112 stand was mine. Perhaps not a deal breaker for many. However, the customer service at Shop Fox may be, depending upon how important that is to you. To illustrate this point of frustration, below is a copy of one of my emails I exchanged with the seller. I don't believe I am an unreasonable customer, but you may judge ...

  11. Looking at a SF m1018 | The Hobby-Machinist

Also, the quality can be pretty poor. Smithy has a pretty good reputation though. I would avoid Shop Fox, Bolton and the rest. Even the smallest of individual machines can do more than these combo gadgets. Plus you can upgrade one or the other separately.
