Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is a large canyon, approximately ten miles (16 km) long and up to 3,000 feet (900 m) deep, located on the western side of Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands of the United States. According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.6 km 2 ), of which 1.9 square miles (4.8 km 2 ) are land and 0.3 square miles (0.8 km 2 ), or 15.09%, are water, [ 3 ] as the CDP boundary extends into the Pacific Ocean.
