The D-model (Nimbus-3D) is the two-seater version. There is also a self-launched two-seat version (Nimbus-3DM) and a two-seat sustainer version (Nimbus-3DT). The first flight of the D-model was in May 1986. The Nimbus-3 was succeeded by the Schempp-Hirth Nimbus-4.
The Nimbus-4DM is a model of the "Nimbus-4 Family," which consists of single-seat and two-seat gliders and motor gliders. The engine in each motor glider retracts into the fuselage, behind the cockpit. The different models are (production data as of 1999): Nimbus-4: a single-seat glider, type certified in Germany January 1, 1994.
The HP-14 is a Richard Schreder-designed all-metal glider aircraft that was offered as a kit for homebuilding during the 1960s and 1970s. [1] It was originally developed by retrofitting improved wings to the fuselage and tail of the HP-13, and first flew in 1966. [2] Schreder won the 1966 US national soaring championship in the prototype HP-14. [3]
