An M1113 Humvee chassis-mounted XM1124 hybrid-electric diesel-series hybrid-powered HMMWV, September 2009. Composite HMMWV – a prototype developed by TPI Composites of Rhode Island and AM General. [84] The purpose of the concept vehicle is to reduce the vehicle's weight so that it may more easily carry an up armor kit. [85]
The M1151 Enhanced Armament Carrier [3] is an improved version of the standard Humvee (HMMWV) designed to replace the M1025A2 used by the United States Armed Forces as a response to United States Central Command requirements.
The system is composed of two parts: the mount which is fixed to the exterior of the vehicle and the control group. The mount is capable of 360° rotation and −20° to +60° elevation and is gyro-stabilized. [1] The sight package includes a daylight video camera, a thermal camera and an eye-safe laser rangefinder.
The vehicle was also promoted by actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was so interested in the Humvee design that he specifically advocated for AM General to produce a civilian version of the vehicle. After the Gulf War was over, AM General modified the M998 Humvee military version for the civilian marketplace powered by 6.2 L GM Diesel V8 engine. [7]
AM General HMMWV The Truck, Utility, ¼-Ton, 4×4, or simply M151 was the successor to the Korean War M38 and M38A1 Jeep Light Utility Vehicles . The M151 had an integrated body design which offered a little more space than prior jeeps, and featured all-around independent suspension with coil springs.
The GMV program made changes in the Humvee's chassis and tires to make them more compatible for off-road work. The tires used were more rugged [7] and have a central tire inflation system. Heavy suspension was also included as an upgrade, [6] giving a ground clearance of 16.8 inch / 42.672 cm.

6.2L fitted to a 1987 HMMWV. The original 6.2 L (379 cu in) diesel V8 was introduced in 1982 for the Chevrolet C/K and was produced until 1993. The 6.2L diesel emerged as a high-fuel-economy alternative to the V8 gasoline engine lineup, and achieved better mileage than Chevrolet's 4.3L V6 gasoline engine of the 1980s, at a time when the market was focused on power rather than efficiency.
