28,770. Jul 17, 2013. #17. Re: walmart trailer tires. Boat weights are generally dry weight, meaning no fuel, no added accessories, no gear, no life jackets, no coolers, empty compartments, etc. Adding the stuff you mentioned adds weight in a hurry. 40 gallons of fuel is nearly 300# by itself.

    forums.iboats.com/threads/old-date-code-on-new-tires.706065

28,770. May 6, 2018. #9. You would not accept a 2-1/2 year old car, boat, or a bicycle for that matter when it is being sold as new (new being current model year) so why would you accept tires that old. A few years back I bought a new pontoon and trailer. The next spring I checked the tires before doing any traveling.

    1. Apr 5, 2016. #1. Hi, I have and older boat and trailer. I noticed last week when I parked the boat, the passenger side tire was wearing on the inside and outside of the tire. Last year I replaced both tires and the driver side tire looks fine it's the other one tread in the middle of the passenger tire still looks new.

  5. Is it ok to put passenger car tires on a boat trailer?

    forums.iboats.com/threads/is-it-ok-to-put-passenger-car...

The size is 225/70/15. It is all dependent on the weight of the trailer and boat combo, Tires specific to trailers have a much higher load rating than passenger tires. Thus better for heavy trailers. As long as your within the load rating you'll be fine.

  6. Galvanized or Painted Wheels? - iboats Boating Forums

    forums.iboats.com/threads/galvanized-or-painted-wheels.495160

Boat/trailer use is strictly salt water. I can get a tire and painted rim combo at Walmart for about $45. West Marine wants $70 plus for a galvanized tire and rim combo. Based on iboat Marine Store prices, it looks like the tire alone would run me $40-$45. So, I'm thinking, even though the trailer is galvanized, if I'm going to have to replace ...

  7. Stress cracks - trailer tires? - iboats Boating Forums

    forums.iboats.com/threads/stress-cracks-trailer-tires.214858

Re: Stress cracks - trailer tires? Spend the extra money, get some good tires. I had cracked sidewalls on my Chaparral tires (an off-brand tire), the off-brand tires don't last as long. I had a blowout and replaced all four with Goodyear Marathon trailer tires, $85 bucks each but worth the extra money.

  8. Are the WalMart hitches any good? - iboats Boating Forums

    forums.iboats.com/threads/are-the-walmart-hitches-any-good...

If you want to weld one on, try Academy Sports. They have a Reese hitch (no handle or bolts/nuts) much cheaper than Bass Pro. At Academy it is 14.99; Bass Pro is 21.99. Northern Tool hitch is cheaper than buying Academy and then buying the handle and bolts/nuts. F.

You can probably find cheaper tires anywhere. If you are wondering about better tires that are less expensive, that's an invitation to a long, never ending discussion ...

  10. Long distance haul with 8" tires - iboats Boating Forums

    forums.iboats.com/threads/long-distance-haul-with-8-tires...

Re: Long distance haul with 8" tires. An 8 inch tire will travel approx 25 inches for one full rotation while a 12 inch tire will travel around 37 inches for a full rotation using the Pi formula of 3.14159 to one to convert diameter to circumference. So a smaller tire spins more over the same distance wearing everything out along the way quicker.

Crazy Snake said: Kinda late but, I bought Trail America tires (ST205/75d 14) in August '08. I bought 3 of them for my single axle trailer. One for spare. WELLLL, I had a blowout (in Nov.) on one with less than 100 miles. Put the spare on and noticed last Friday (12-05) a big golfball sized bubble on.
