Libbey, Inc., (formerly Libbey Glass Company and New England Glass Company) is a glass production company headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. It was originally founded in 1818 in Cambridge, Massachusetts , as the New England Glass Company, before relocating to Ohio in 1888 and renaming to Libbey Glass Co .
The Belmont Glass Company was Bellaire's first of many glass plants, and the second in Belmont County. [19] In 1880, the state of Ohio ranked fourth in the country in glass production, and Belmont County ranked sixth among the nation's counties. [20] By 1881, the town had 15 glass factories, and was known as "Glass City". [21]
Fenton had a long history of decorating glass that goes back to its beginnings in 1905.
