Verona is a village in Grundy County, Illinois. The population was 208 at the 2020 census. [4] The community was established circa 1876 by George D. Smith as a station on the Chicago, Pekin and Southwestern Railroad. Smith named the town for his birthplace Verona, New York. [5]

Western is a station on the 'L' system, serving the Blue Line's Forest Park branch. It is located in the median of the Eisenhower Expressway. It serves the Near West Side neighborhood and Crane Tech High School. The station is also located about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the Western Avenue (Metra BNSF Railway Line) commuter railroad station.
Locations included the original CTC home, the "Lake View" building at 116 S. Michigan Avenue. At some point before 1918 day classes were held in new Chicago “Tech” Building at 2721 S. Michigan Avenue. By 1928, the school was in a new two-story building at the corner of 26th and Indiana Streets.
