The Ronkonkoma Branch is a rail service operated by the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) in the U.S. state of New York.On LIRR maps and printed schedules, the "Ronkonkoma Branch" includes trains running along the railroad's Main Line from Hicksville (where the Port Jefferson Branch leaves the Main Line) to Ronkonkoma, and between Ronkonkoma and the Main Line's eastern terminus at Greenport.
The Main Line then continues east from Mineola to Hicksville, where the two track Port Jefferson Branch begins and curves to the north. At Hicksville, the Main Line reverts to two tracks. From FARM Interlocking (just east of Farmingdale station), the Main Line continues to Ronkonkoma, except for some freight sidings along the route.
The six stations on the Main Line east of Ronkonkoma also see very limited week-round trains, and are often used for recreation rather than commuting. Jamaica is a major transfer station between branches, as it provides the interchange from the eastern Long Island stations to the western New York terminals and vice versa.
