The Global Advocate is the CGGC's official periodical, published bi-monthly by the church. There are seven regional organizations in the Churches of God-USA. These are the Allegheny Region, Eastern Regional Conference, California Eldership, Great Lakes Conference, Mid-South Conference, Midwest Region, and Western Region.

The Church of the Great God (CGG) is one of the Armstrongist Churches of God. It broke away in 1992 from the Worldwide Church of God in the wake of the major shifts in its doctrine during the 1980s and 1990s. [1] The CGG, headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina, continues to follow the teachings of Herbert W. Armstrong. [citation needed]
CGI was founded in 1978 by four former members of the Worldwide Church of God, [2] including evangelist Garner Ted Armstrong (1930–2003) [3] after his father, Herbert W. Armstrong, excommunicated him from the WCG and fired him from all roles in the church over disagreements about operations and certain doctrinal positions.

The governors of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin created the Council of Great Lakes Governors in 1983. The original goal was to create a non-partisan forum to promote regional agreements on issues of concern for the states of the Great Lakes region. In 1989, the governors of New York and Pennsylvania joined the council.
