  3. Why did the Ravenclaw animal change from an Eagle to a Raven?

8 Share. Sort by: MinistryExorcist. • 6 yr. ago. Same reason that the colours changed from Blue and Bronze to Blue and Silver: The movies felt the need to change things. "OK, so we've got this house called Ravenclaw, their colours are Blue and Bronze, and their symbol is a bronze eagle on a blue shield". "But they've got Raven in their name.

Studies have shown they use logic, not instinct, to solve problems, such as when ravens filled up a container with water to make the treat rise to the top. Ravens are also a lot smaller than eagles, showing that they use their intellect to get ahead, rather than relying on size and strength, like a Gryffindor might. 3.

  5. Why is Ravenclaw's symbol an eagle instead of a raven?

    www.reddit.com/r/harrypotter/comments/1w0dqc/why_is_ravenclaws_symbol_an_eagle...

This theory is supported by the fact that Ravenclaw is also her daughter's surname. This has never been confirmed by Rowling. Also even though the word "Raven" is in Ravenclaw's name, the crest of her house depicts an eagle. It is interesting to note that Albania is sometimes considered the "Land of Eagles" in the 16th century and that Rowena's ...

An eagle has no attributes of a ravenclaw. An actual raven is one of the smartest animals and would fit knowledge and intelligence better. An owl could represent wisdom and knowledge too. But an eagle as an animal does not represent Rabenclaw attributes quite good IMO.

The Eagle is very symbolic for the region in which the Ravenclaw family and their nobility came from. Turning the symbol into a raven is a little silly even though we know that ravens are very logical birds.

This one bugs me, but that's hardly a new thing. Book versus movie stuff has been argued for ages. What bugs me the most is all of this official merchandise (movie merchandise) that features a Raven for the Ravenclaw house mascot, when it's actually an eagle in the books. Sometimes it's just a silhouette and it's vague enough that it could be ...

This is why the Ravenclaw sigil items at Universal Florida are so very annoying. All Ravenclaw items are ravens, except the Hogwarts 4 house crest. 10 votes, 17 comments. It may seem like a silly question, but I'm genuinely curious. The other animals make sense for their houses, and even the….

It has always irked me that a house called RAVENclaw has an EAGLE for mascot. Yes, relative animal intelligence is a thing, ravens are very smart (for a bird) but my main point is: The House is named after its founder, Rowena RAVENclaw, not "eagleclaw" why would an eagle be the mascot? it has RAVEN on its name for crying out loud!
