Pit is a fast-paced card game for three to eight players, designed to simulate open outcry bidding for commodities. The game first went on sale in 1904 by the American games company Parker Brothers. [1] The inspirations were the Chicago Board of Trade (known as the Pit) and the US Corn Exchange.
Players could play either the "classic" version using the Life Tiles, or the "enhanced" version where landing on a space with a Life Tile allows players to play one of several mini-games. In addition, in the enhanced version, landing on a Pay Day space allows a player to take their salary from any opponent of their choice.
