The city is known worldwide as the home of Pilsner beer, created by Bavarian brewer Josef Groll in the city in 1842; today, the Pilsner Urquell Brewery is the largest brewery in the Czech Republic. Plzeň serves as the main business centre of West Bohemia and the capital of the Plzeň Region.

Nadryby is located about 12 kilometres (7 mi) northeast of Plzeň.It lies in the Plasy Uplands.The highest point is at 389 m (1,276 ft) above sea level. The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Berounka River, between meanders of the river, which forms significant part of the municipal border.
