The Linn County Courthouse in Mound City, Kansas was built in 1885. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. It was designed by Topeka architect George Ropes. It is a two-story-with-basement red brick building with a 110 by 60 feet (34 m × 18 m) plan and height almost 65 feet (20 m).

South Mound was located on the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad. [3] The railroad tracks were removed in 1989 following the M-K-T's merger with Missouri Pacific. A post office was opened in South Mound in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1971. [4]
