In 2006, Lord Hesketh's financial difficulties forced him to sell the family seat, Easton Neston, at Towcester, Northamptonshire—the only surviving completed house by the English baroque architect Nicholas Hawksmoor—and all furnishings of the house, including even the family portraits.
Baron Hesketh, of Hesketh in the County Palatine of Lancaster, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1935 for Sir Thomas Fermor-Hesketh, 8th Baronet , [ 1 ] who had previously briefly represented Enfield in the House of Commons as a Conservative .
Born Thomas George Hesketh, he was the second son of Sir Thomas Fermor-Hesketh, 5th Baronet, and Lady Anna Maria Isabella Fermor, daughter of Thomas Fermor, 4th Earl of Pomfret. In 1867 he and his father assumed by Royal licence the additional surname of Fermor and in 1876 he succeeded his elder brother as 7th Baronet of Rufford .

The latter was raised in 1692 to the Peerage of England as Baron Leominster [n 2], in the County of Hereford. His eldest son was elevated to become Earl of Pomfret in 1721. The latter was succeeded by his son, who became a Gentleman of the Bedchamber to George III and sold the manor of Westoning in 1767 to John Everitt. [ 3 ]
