Open C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download (replacing C:\Windows with the path to your old Windows directory). You will find a bunch of files with a long alphanumeric name and no extension. These are the updates (and miscellaneous files). What you need to do is to figure out which ones are executable and run them.
The ISO you downloaded is only Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. It is meant as a patch for a computer already running Windows XP. It's not bootable and cannot be used to install a fresh copy of Windows XP.
Add the .VHD extension to that file name (e.g. VirtualXP.VHD) by using F2 key. Open Hyper-V, make a new VM, add that previous VHD file (see procedure). Then run that VM. VirtualBox supports VHD so simply create a Windows XP 32-bit machine and plug-in the VHD in it at the step where you select the disk.

It appears that at the moment, the Service Packs for Windows XP have been pulled from Microsoft's website. Right now I am trying to upgrade to SP3 on an offline PC, which means I also need SP1/SP2. Does anybody have links to SP1/SP2 and SP3? Thanks in advance.
