The jelly rolls are cut straight, not the "zig zag" cut you find on other jelly rolls. Regardless, I would still use this fabric for other quilts. Kona has a wonderful range of solid colors. If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.-. Zig Ziglar.

In this case, I would consider the following: 1. Wash, tumble dry, and iron the Kona. 2. Soak each individual 10" square. (Yes, that means you'd have to do this 42 times.) 3. Hand squeeze the excess liquid from each 10" square. 4. Iron each 10" square until it's completely dry.

Add a dab of Dawn dish detergent and the fabric. Let it sit 12 hours or overnight. Then drain and dry. Test it with a damp white cotton towel to make sure, but it should no longer bleed. Vinegar doesn't work on the newer synthetic dyes. I gave up on the burgundy for the tshirt quilt.

Re: Kona Cotton. My HL carries a large selection of Kona and those bolts are marked with Kona on top of the bolt. Their regular price is $8.99 yd. They also carry another brand, very similar but lighter weight. Since our store usually has fabrics at 30% off, it's comes to about 6.29 yd.

Both have the same invisable fingers, and once washed, the Joanns Kona white does become softer. The price difference isn't much. It's possible the color difference, makes fabric feel differently. Joanns only has Kona white. They don't have Kona snow, or optic white, or any other shade, just white.

  8. Do you prefer Bella solids or Kona cotton solids?

Re: Do you prefer Bella solids or Kona cotton solids? I just started carrying Northcott Colorworks at my shop. The cotton quality is better than Kona's which I also have. I sell my Northcotts a few dollars less a metre than the Konas. If your shop has these, try them. If they don't carry it, ask them to bring in a few bolts.

Decor fabric is more expensive, but has the extra weight to make nice drapery folds. It is usually 54-60" wide. Lining fabric is usually 54" wide and standard cottons, like the Kona Cotton, are 44" wide. Draperies and your lining should have a double fold 3"-4" inch hem, so allow extra in measuring your length to accommodate a double hem.

To me, Kona Snow is the perfect off white/ cream. It is slightly creamy, goes well with near whites. If you shop local big fabric retailers, Kona Bone is almost the same as Kona Snow. Do not interchange Moda Snow with Kona Snow. Moda Snow is much more yellow than Kona Snow. I am unfamiliar with the other fabric names you are referring to.

Kona and RJR conversion charts. March 19, 2016, 01:36 AM. I found a nice quilt pattern that lists each RJR Supreme solid used. I prefer using as much of my Kona stash as possible. Does anyone know of conversion charts for solids, similar to ones available for embroidery threads?
