This is my what I found. I may be wrong. Please correct me if I am wrong. Puronics has water softener business much longer than AO Smith. Puronics also have more legit certificates. However, AO Smith has carbon and chemical removal functions which look fancy to me. The the last thing, not sure which side is better.
Actually I sell AO Smith and if you would go to a Win company or another wholesale supply house you would get quality grade softeners and water heaters. What we sell is far beyond what Lowe's sells. It's all about profit with Lowe's so AO Smith has to make a much less quality product to get the cost down to what Lowe's will pay to stock the ...
I have an AO Smith FPS 50 226 Powershot gas water heater. When there is a demand for hot water, everything starts up normally, but the burner goes out (can hear the solenoid click shutting it down) before the water is up to temp (the blower continues to run and the pilot is lit).
Both units are HE models BTX 100 120 and both seem to get waterlogged and cause these ignition failures I've been getting. They are both in the same building btw. What I've found as a temporary solution is to use a shop vac so it blows air out and put the hose against the blower motor inlet to push the water out of the system.

The hot water in the shower. When I turn it up it will go from warm to cold back to warm it will not stay steady unless I turn it all the way up. Then it is just hot water. Is that an adjustment I make on the tank? And no I dont have a water saver shower head. the model number is R2VR-180E 100
Regarding water chemistry, yes, this is community well water, several wells in fact that I'm told are blended together to provide water for the area. The latest info I could find (2013-2014) showed the measured water HARDNESS to be 77.2 PPM (hmmm, doesn't even seem to be all that hard as it says 60 PPM is considered to be "slightly hard" and ...
A.O. Smith bought American water heater last year. With WHs prices through the roof, they had the cash. Lowe's was carrying Whirlpool water heaters, made by American WHs, but is now switching to A.O Smith WHs. In the stores around me, they were clearing out the Whirlpool WHs at up to 50% off. I...
I called AO smith, they told me it could be stacking (no, it will heat to 150 degrees on low with no water being used). Then they told me I may have venting issues that can cause this issue. I have 3 wide 90s and 10 feet of straight pipe, nothing crazy for a powevent. They said sometimes the vent can cause the water to get much hotter.
It was not a geyser, but the water was even with the top of the water heater and dripping over the side. Update - I called AO Smith to see if they had any suggestions / recommendations. The rep went through a quick troubleshooting list (i.e. any water from other fittings, etc.) as a formality, but agreed the threads on the anode rod are the issue.
