Three Rivers Community College (TRCC) is a public community college in Norwich, Connecticut. It was formed in 1992 by the merger of Mohegan Community College and Thames Valley State Technical College [ 2 ] and is named after the three major rivers in the region: the Shetucket , the Yantic and the Thames . [ 4 ]

The Owls had their first National Tournament berth in 2017 with a record of 24–11. They ended their campaign in the second round of the National Tournament when they lost to New Haven. In 2018, the Owls won their first-ever NE-10 Conference Title against American International College.

As a result of this effort, a number of athletic conferences expanded. With the expansion of conferences, many smaller conferences, previously able to schedule a full competitive sports schedule found they were unable to fill out schedules without an extraordinary amount of travel to distant schools.

The Naugatuck Valley League (NVL), the oldest high school sports league in Connecticut, has a storied history of athletic competition dating back to its initial formation in 1918 [2]. The first attempt to establish a high school football league in the Naugatuck Valley featured teams such as Naugatuck, Torrington, Crosby, Meriden, and Bridgeport.
