"Pour Some Sugar on Me" is a song by the English rock band Def Leppard from their 1987 album Hysteria. It reached number two on the US US Billboard Hot 100 chart on 23 July 1988. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is considered the band's signature song, [1] and was ranked number two on VH1's "100 Greatest Songs of the 80s" in 2006. [2]
Def Leppard themselves re-recorded the song in 2012 (along with "Rock of Ages" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me") and released it as a digital download on 19 March 2013. [citation needed] In 2018, singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson covered "Hysteria" on Pyromattia.
The smash single, "Pour Some Sugar on Me", was the last song written but was quickly finished within two weeks. In sharp contrast, the final version of "Animal" took almost a full three years to be developed but was not as successful as other singles, only reaching number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100. [21]
Note: *The video for "Bringin' On the Heartbreak" is the Phil Collen version (taped in 1984), however, the audio is the original Pete Willis version (1981). This may have been done on purpose for the Greatest Hits collection to merge the more popular version of the song with the more well-known music video.
Singles also included "Pour Some Sugar on Me" (US No. 2), "Hysteria", "Armageddon It", "Animal" (at No. 6, the biggest UK hit), and "Rocket" (a Top 15 hit in many countries). Clark died in 1991, with the band recording their next studio album, Adrenalize, as a four-piece. The album reached No. 1 on the UK, US and Australian charts in 1992.
From the band's end, there was hesitation to film another concept video. Although they were happy with the results for "Hysteria" and "Animal", they were very unsatisfied with the way "Pour Some Sugar on Me" had turned out for its concept. Therefore, an idea was pitched to quickly create a video edited from the Denver footage.

In fact, Disc one of Best of is essentially the entire Vault (UK Version) compilation album with the addition of "Long Long Way to Go" from X. A 2-CD limited edition was released in a slipcase with more obscure fan ...
"Pour Some Sugar on Me" is the video edit version. This version actually features an extended, distorted intro, making it longer than the Hysteria version, which has the shorter "Step inside, walk this way" intro. "Rocket" is the single edit, which runs around two and a half minutes shorter than its Hysteria album counterpart.
