1948 Hindustan 10. Hindustan Motors Limited (HML) was India's pioneering automobile manufacturing company. It was established just before the Indian Independence Act 1947, in 1942 by B. M. Birla of the industrialist Birla family in collaboration with Lord Nuffield of Morris Motors, who were already selling their cars in India.

GM continued with tie-ups with Hindustan Motors to build Bedford trucks, Vauxhall cars, Allison Transmissions and off-road equipment. In 1994, GMIPL was formed as a joint venture, owned 50 percent by Hindustan Motors and 50 percent by General Motors, to produce and sell Opel branded vehicles. GM bought out the Hindustan Motors interest in 1999.

The CATV is a 4x4 ATV. The vehicle was designed by Sri Lankan Engineers from Ideal Motors and the Navy. The engine, gear system and the chassis is produced by Mahindra while the rest is fabricated locally reducing costs to LKR 8 million while an imported vehicle would cost LKR 20 million.
