The Philadelphia Museum of Art (PMA) is an art museum originally chartered in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia. [1] The main museum building was completed in 1928 [ 8 ] on Fairmount, a hill located at the northwest end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at Eakins Oval . [ 2 ]
The museum's collections are spread throughout several locations in Fairmount Park in addition to The Rodin museum and the Neo-classical building at the end of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The entire collection houses over 70,000 objects, thousands of which are on view at any given time.
