Endeavour is a British television detective drama series created by Russell Lewis and co-produced by Mammoth Screen and Masterpiece in association with ITV Studios.It is a prequel to the long-running Inspector Morse series and was first broadcast on ITV1 in the United Kingdom on 2 January 2012 and on PBS in the United States on 1 July 2012, as part of the Masterpiece Mystery! anthology.
The fifth series, with six episodes, was set in 1968, [1] and the sixth series picked up eight months later, set in 1969. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] [ 4 ] Series seven, set in 1970, began screening in February 2020, with the first episode shown in the United States on Masterpiece Theatre on 9 August that year.
Throughout the series, Endeavour expresses doubts in staying with the police, and in the Series 2 finale, expresses a desire to possibly leave the force and become a teacher abroad. Endeavour is highly intelligent and possesses a wealth of knowledge on Oxford and English history, opera and classical music.

Inspector Morse is a British television crime drama, starring John Thaw and Kevin Whately, for which eight series were broadcast between 1987 and 2000, totalling thirty-three episodes. Although the last five episodes were each broadcast a year apart (two years before the final episode), when released on DVD, they were billed as Series Eight.
