I observed performances of this Nutbush "line dance" three times, in 1987, 1988 amd 1989. I don't think it is a "disco era" ( late 70's ) phenomenon. "Line dance" was not evident in Australia during the late 70's disco craze, it became popular around the time of the movie "Thelma and Louise", which featured line dancing.
