Vaaranam Aayiram (transl. A Thousand Elephants ) is a 2008 Indian Tamil -language action drama film [ 1 ] written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and produced by V. Ravichandran of Aascar Films .
The series was announced as a part of Sun TV's six upcoming series [3] slate of content in April 2024. The series is directed by Nanthan C. Muthiah. AR Productions produces the show. Initially, the title of the serial was named 'Devathai' [4] and 'Vaaranam Aayiram'.
But due to the success of inaugural Indian Premier League season, the release of the film along with Suriya's Vaaranam Aayiram, scheduled for May 2008 release, was put on hold till 1 June 2008, the date when the tournament is concluded. [20]

Gautham Vasudev Menon (born 25 February 1973) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, film producer and actor who predominantly works in Tamil film industry. [2] He has also directed Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films that were either simultaneously shot with or remakes of his own Tamil films.
The film marked Harris' fourth collaboration with Suriya after Kaakha Kaakha (2003), Ghajini (2005) and Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) and his first with Anand, who worked with Vidyasagar in his previous film Kana Kandaen (2005). Anand narrated the script to Jayaraj, who at that time completed scoring Dhaam Dhoom (2008) and Vaaranam Aayiram.

The second schedule of the film took place in May 2014, where the filming took place in Chennai, Hyderabad, Rajasthan, Sikkim and a few parts of Malaysia.
