Lauren Scruggs (born January 27, 2003) is an American left-handed foil fencer. [1] Scruggs won a silver medal in women's individual foil at the 2024 Summer Olympics , making her the first Black American woman to win an individual fencing medal. [ 2 ]
Scruggs started fencing at age 6 after her older brother, Nolen, started taking lessons. She said she loves the nature of the competition. “It’s very mentally stimulating,” she said.
