James Edward Doyle Sr. (July 6, 1915 – April 1, 1987) was an American lawyer and jurist from Madison, Wisconsin. He served 22 years as a United States district judge for the Western District of Wisconsin , from 1965 until his death in 1987.
Son of James Edward Doyle and Ruth Bachhuber Doyle. [285] NOTE: James E. Doyle Jr. is also nephew by marriage of U.S. Secretary of Defense Melvin R. Laird, [286] great-grandson-in-law of Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor William D. Connor and great-great-grandson-in-law of Wisconsin State Assemblyman Robert Connor.
Jim Doyle was born on November 23, 1945, in Washington, D.C., the son of Ruth Bachhuber Doyle and James Edward Doyle, who were influential leaders of the post-1946 Democratic Party of Wisconsin. [3] Doyle Sr. ran unsuccessfully for governor in 1954 and was appointed as a federal judge in 1965.
