Late to the party (how fitting) but I totally agree. If developers want to include a time limit, there are plenty of optional ways to do that. Include incentives for completing the game within the time limit, but don't cause the player to lose the game outright. How about achievements or unlockables for completing the game within a time limit?
Yeah what you say is true but as u/Into_The_Rain said the game's time should rather be seen as certain equivalent in scale (similar to how for example time is compressed in open-world games like GTA, RDR or STALKER). After all, first phases (A - recon by force & B - skirmish) last 10 minutes while IRL these phases take from 12 hours to 3 days ...

The no time limit would just extend a boring game for most mediocre players. It would also remove any incentive to push, since there is no clock to fight when you are behind in victory points. Without a time limit, if the points wash, someone has to make a move if they want to actually win. Whether either player will attack is another story. With a time limit a player can find themselves in a position they literally have ZERO incentive to attack and I think that leads to your point about imbalance.
Hi! I'd love a cozy, relaxing game such as Stardew Valley, but without the time pressure of the day cycle. I don't want to rush everything I do. I also love the collecting things aspect of such games. If anyone knows such a game, please, I'd love sugestions!
Little differences like this add up to a game that plays quite differently than No Limit. Also, in a lot of the low stakes limit games, your suited Ax hands go up in value, because there are lot of big multi-way pots that make flush equity go up. This is similar to low stakes No Limit. These games are beaten by playing tight.
