Twyfelfontein valley has been inhabited by Stone-age hunter-gatherers of the Wilton stone age culture group since approximately 6,000 years ago. They made most of the engravings and probably all the paintings. 2,000 to 2,500 years ago the Khoikhoi, an ethnic group related to the San (), occupied the valley, then known under its Damara/Nama name ǀUi-ǁAis (jumping waterhole).

The National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN) is a state-owned art gallery situated in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. It was founded in 1990. The goal of this institution is to preserve and encourage art in Namibia. It displays in a permanent exhibition of Namibian, African and European Art.
It encompasses part of the Namib Desert (considered the world's oldest desert), the Naukluft mountain range, and the lagoon at Sandwich Harbour. The best-known area of the park and one of the main visitor attractions in Namibia is Sossusvlei, a clay pan surrounded by dunes, and Sesriem, a small canyon of the Tsauchab.
It is located on Lüderitz Street and shares a building with the Windhoek Public Library. [1] As of 2023, the 1958 building is dilapidated, and the Owela museum is closed. [2] The Alte Feste Museum houses the historic collection.
Kolmanskop (Afrikaans for "Coleman's peak", German: Kolmannskuppe) is a ghost town in the Namib in southern Namibia, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) inland from the port town of Lüderitz. It was named after a transport driver named Johnny Coleman who, during a sand storm, abandoned his ox wagon on a small incline opposite the settlement. [ 1 ]
