The Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), formerly the National Home Study Council and then as the Distance Education and Training Council, is a private and non-profit national educational accreditation agency in the United States specializing in the accreditation of (51 percent or more) [1] distance education programs of study and institutions.
Nationally accredited schools, a large number of which are for-profit, typically offered specific vocational, career, or technical programs. Regionally accredited institutions employed large numbers of full-time faculty, and the faculty set the academic policies. Regionally-accredited schools were required to have adequate library facilities.
The Commission on Colleges accredits both public and private institutions of higher education in the United States, including some community colleges as well as four-year institutions. [1] As a regional accreditor, SACSCOC accreditation extends to all of the educational programs offered at the accredited institution. [5]
There are three main types of accreditation for MBA programs: regional, national and programmatic. Employers may look for and prioritize recruiting candidates from accredited schools.
