The 2023–24 Colorado Avalanche season was the 45th season for the Avalanche as the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that joined the league in 1979, and their 28th playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season.

The Colorado Rockies were a professional ice hockey team in the National Hockey League (NHL) that played in Denver from 1976 to 1982. They were founded as the Kansas City Scouts, an expansion team that began play in the NHL in the 1974–75 season. The Scouts moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Denver for the 1976–77 season. [2]
The team is a member of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The team started as Quebec Nordiques in the World Hockey Association (WHA) and played in the league until its merger with the NHL in 1979. The Nordiques later relocated from Quebec to become the Colorado Avalanche before the 1995–96 season.
